General Information
What are composites?
From the latest aerospace and automobile technology to boats, golf clubs, fishing poles and helmets, composites are everywhere. There's a good chance your roofing, siding, windows and countertops contain composite material. Wherever high performance, long life and easy care are important, composites push limits and provide solutions.
Generally, composite products are developed to convey all of the benefits of their raw materials, with few, if any of the limitations. But not all composites are equal. Shortcuts and lower-quality stock may yield adequate composites, but only the highest-quality raw materials produce the best products.
Composite decking and deck railings are made by marrying a variety of suitable polymer resins with refined cellulose, most often derived from forest products. Veranda® and Sanctuary™ by Fiberon® composite decking and railings are crafted at our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility using only the finest raw materials available and the latest in polymer technology. It is this combination of high-quality ingredients and manufacturing expertise that produces the best-performing composite products in the industry: Veranda decking and railing
Who makes Veranda®?
Fiberon is the exclusive manufacturer for Veranda composite decking, railing and fencing products for The Home Depot.
Care and Cleaning
How do I clean and maintain composite decking and railing?
Composite decking and railing materials are resilient. Clean your deck at least twice each year to remove pollen, organic debris, dirt or stains. Generally, a broom or a blower will work better than a hose for removing scattered organic materials like leaves. Over time, especially with kids and pets, the deck may become soiled. Dislodge accumulated dirt with a broom or by using soap and water and a scrub brush. Scrubbing in the direction of the grain is best. Thoroughly rinse off with a garden hose. Read the care and maintenance guide for further information.

Sanctuary® Extreme by Fiberon®
PVC Composite Decking
What are the primary advantages of Sanctuary Extreme PVC Decking?
Sanctuary Extreme Decking consists of a cellular PVC (foamed Poly Vinyl Chloride) core with no fiber fillers and takes the wood – and its performance issues – out of the board, utilizing only the positive performance features of PVC.
What colors of Sanctuary Extreme Decking are available?
Sanctuary Extreme's patented surface technology allows for colors that are guaranteed to endure for years. Available in two colors, cedar and driftwood, Sanctuary Extreme offers industry-leading color retention, unmatched by any other PVC product with the category's first warranty against stain and color fade.
How does the color perform over time?
The color of Sanctuary Extreme is warranted against color fade for 20 years. Everything under the sun fades, but Sanctuary Extreme's colors stand up to the sun as no other decking can. Guaranteed not to fade over 5 Delta E (Hunter) units, Sanctuary Extreme resists fading due to the patent pending Lumenite surface technology. Color change this slight is not generally detectable by casual observers. Additionally, Sanctuary Extreme colors will exhibit none of the chalking often associated with color fade during this period.
What maintenance is involved with Sanctuary Extreme Decking?
General cleaning at least twice a year is recommended to remove pollen, organic debris, dirt or stains. A broom or a blower will work better than a hose for removing scattered organic materials like leaves. Dislodge accumulated dirt with a broom or by using soap and water and a non-abrasive scrub brush. Thoroughly rinse off with a garden hose. Sanctuary Extreme Decking never needs staining or painting and is highly resistant to stains, termites and mold.
Can I paint or stain Sanctuary Extreme Decking?
The rich choice of colors available in Sanctuary Extreme Decking eliminates the need for paint or stain. Painting or staining is not recommended.
How does heat affect Sanctuary Extreme Decking?
The infrared, heat reflective Lumenite surface retains heat less than composite decking and is comfortable underfoot.
What are the differences between HDPE products and PVC Decking?
HDPE and PVC decking offer many of the same benefits, like weather and splinter resistance. PVC is lighter in weight and carries a Class A fire rating for flame spread.
How resistant is Sanctuary Extreme Decking to the elements?
Sanctuary Extreme Decking resists fading, splinters, termites, and decay, providing a deck surface that will remain beautiful for years to come. Sanctuary Extreme's Lumenite fusion-bonded surface provides a protective surface that outperforms other PVC decking.
Will Sanctuary Extreme Decking scratch and/or splinter?

Veranda Color Match Decking and Railing
What is Veranda Color Match Composite Decking and Railing made of?
Veranda is made of reclaimed wood flour and recycled plastics. The wood flour comes from many sources mainly from the furniture industry. The HDPE (High Density Polyethylene Plastics) are derived from discarded structural plastic materials like cups, food containers and milk bottles.
What surfaces are available on Veranda Decking?
Veranda Decking is manufactured with two different surfaces. One side is molded with small longitudinal ridges that provide added slip resistance to the deck surface. The other side is embossed with a realistic deep wood grain finish that resembles real wood. Foot traffic, traffic patterns, objects like furniture dragged on the surface, weather exposure, cleaning products used, frequency of cleaning especially with commercial pressure washers (not recommended) will all affect the factory surface finish of Veranda.
What colors does Veranda Decking come in?
Veranda decking is available in Cedar, Slate Gray, Cascade Redwood and Tuscan Walnut. Stocking availability of these colors varies by region, but all colors are available through special order sales. Contact your local Home Depot for more information.
What sizes and lengths are available in Veranda Decking?
Veranda Decking is available in 12', 16’ and 20' lengths in grooved or square edged. A 12"w x 12'l matching fascia boards are also available.
Does Veranda fade?
Yes, Veranda will lighten slightly over time to a beautiful weathered tone. This color tone shift is dependent upon exposure to sunlight and other environmental factors. The weathering process begins upon installation and is generally complete within 60 to 90 days.
Should I purchase all of my decking material at one time?
Yes, purchasing all required decking material at one time is recommended as manufacturing runs can produce slightly different colors. Like most composites, Veranda will have slight color variations from piece to piece. This is due to the natural variations in wood fibers and polymers. Color variation is not covered by warranty. We recommend purchasing extra material in case boards need to be repaired or replaced in the future.
Will Veranda rot, splinter or decay like wood?
No. Veranda has been tested under accelerated weather conditions and is weather-resistant. It is also warranted against checking, splintering, delaminating, rotting, or structural damage from fungal decay when used in conjunction with an above ground application in a residential structure.
Does Veranda Decking provide good traction in wet or dry conditions?
Yes, both of Veranda 's decking finishes provide slip-resistance.
How should Veranda be stored and handled?
Veranda Decking should be supported every four feet when stored. All wood composite decking, while stored in unit form uncovered, is subject to potentially significant staining on the board surface. Rainfall accumulates between the boards and is not free to evaporate. Proper handling requires covered storage at all levels of distribution including the job site. Units are wrapped to ensure weather tightness. Open units, including material at the job site, should be stored under cover to prevent rainwater from pooling between the board surfaces. Once installed, Veranda Decking is largely unaffected since rainfall is able to drain and evaporate.
What are the main differences between Veranda and other composite decking products?
Veranda is a versatile composite decking and railing product line. Veranda Decking and Railing are available in classic colors available in select areas. Veranda deck boards are reversible with a combed finish on one side and an embossed wood grain finish on the other. Veranda offers easy installation and long-lasting beauty.
Where can I buy Veranda Decking and Railing, and how much does it cost?
The complete Veranda line is available at Home Depot stores nationwide in stocking and special order programs. It is competitively priced in comparison to premium grades of wood decking and less than other high-end composite decking materials.
What is the difference between Veranda Composite Decking and Railing and wood?
Veranda combines the look of wood with the durability of plastic. Unlike wood decks which require continuous maintenance, there is no need to apply weather protectants or water seal products to Veranda. Veranda 's slip-resistant surface provides outstanding traction and won’t splinter or become structurally unfit due to rot, splits, checks or damage caused by termites or fungal decay.
